Adam's Peak is a 2,243 m (7,359 ft) tall conical mountain located in Sabaragamuwa & central province Sri Lanka. It is well known for the Sri Pada "sacred footprint", a 1.8 m (5 ft 11 in) rock formation near the summit, which in Buddhist tradition is held to be the footprint of the Buddha, in Hindu tradition that of Hanuman or Shiva "Mountain of Shiva's Light", and in some Islamic and Christian traditions that of Adam, or that of St. Thomas.

Best time to visit Adam's Peak 

The best time to climb is between January and May when the weather is at its best, but do avoid days nearing the full moon and the week of the Sinhalese New Year (13/14 April) to avoid long queues to the peak. Aim to be at the summit at dawn as the view of the sunrise is known to make hikers quiver in delight.

Watch Adam’s Peak Foot Print

Adam’s Peak is a place of worship and pilgrimage by many religions for more than 1000 years. Also known as Sri Pada, it is home to a foot imprint on a rock at its summit. Depending on the faith, the footprint has been considered that of Buddha, the god ShivaSt. Thomas, and even, Adam after he was expelled from the Garden of Eden.

Watch Sun Rise & Sun Set

Another name for this peak is “Punchi Sri Pada” and it stands at 1,141 m in height. It will take around 35-45 min to reach to the top of the mountain on a zig- zag path.

From the top there are panoramic views and is an ideal place to watch sun rise in the morning or sun set in the evening. If you visit here you can see this wonderful view.
