Dunhinda Falls is a waterfall located about 5 kilometres from Badulla in the lower central hills of Sri Lanka. The waterfalls are purported to be one of the country's most beautiful waterfalls.

The waterfall, which is 64 metres (210 ft) high, gets its name from the smoky dew drops spray, (Dun in sinhala means mist or smoke) which surrounds the area at the foot of the waterfall. It's also known as bridal fall, as the shape of the water falling is similar to a bridal veil. Also, there are some myths and legends associated with the fall. The fall is created by the Badulu Oya which flows through Badulla.

The best time to visit Dunhinda Falls is from June to July as it is considered a safer time to visit. During the monsoon, especially in November to March, the view of the falls is spectacular.

How to Reach?

The easiest way from Colombo is to take the Southern Expressway. After exiting, take Wellawaya-Ella-Kumbalwela Highway, and then take  Bandarawela – Badulla Road.  The entrance to the fall is approximately 5km away from Badulla Town. From Colombo to  Dunhinda Falls  Falls 244km far away. Trekking

The trek to Dunhinda Falls is around 1.5 km long and is moderately challenging. The clear path consists of small bridges and steep steps. There are safety wooden and iron handrails. But the view of the falls when you approach the end of the trail is worth the long trek.
