Unawatuna is a coastal town in Galle district of Sri Lanka. Unawatuna is a major tourist attraction in Sri Lanka and known for its beach and corals. It is a suburb of Galle, about 5 kilometres southeast to the city center and approximately 108 kilometres south of Colombo. Unawatuna is situated at an elevation of 5 metres (16 ft) above the sea level. Despite significant development in the last decade it is still home to the endangered and endemic purple-faced langur, a usually shy monkey species that can only be found in Sri Lanka's forests.

Unawatuna Beach

Unawatuna is one of the biggest tourist destinations in Sri Lanka and is the most “famous” beach in the country. It is a lovely banana-shaped beach of golden sand and turquoise water, surrounded by green palm trees! It was the first beach we visited in Sri Lanka.

Also Jungle beach is with a great view on the Galle bay, clear water, the beach kisses the Jungle and palm trees around it.

Galle Lighthouse

Galle Lighthouse is within the Galle Fort complex and it’s a beautiful sight to behold. Basically, it’s beautiful because it looks out of place. That’s the thing with Galle Fort in general. It all feels very European, which is a nice contrast to the Sri Lankan qualities that surround it.

Galle lighthouse is a perfect spot for photos, chilling with an ice cream or simply admiring the view behind it.  It looks amazing in the sunset too.
