Matale is the administrative capital and largest urbanised centre in the Matale District, Central Province, Sri Lanka. It is located at the heart of the Central Hills of the island and lies in a broad, fertile valley at an elevation of 364 m above sea level.

Sembuwatta Matale

Sembuwatta Lake is a beautiful attraction point located within the village of Elkaduwa in Matale district of Sri Lanka. A quiet and ravishing human-made lake made up of natural spring water, Sembuwatta Lake is adjacent to the Campbell’s Lane Forest Reserve.

Sembuwatta Lake also has a natural swimming pool by its side. Riverstone Matale

Riverston Matale Knuckles Mountain Range located between two districts of Matale and Kandy, in central Sri Lanka.

As the entire Matale Knuckles Mountain Range is dressed in heavy coatings of cloud, in Sinhalese it’s called “Dumbara” which means mountain in the mist.

Wasgamuwa National Park

Wasgamuwa National Park is a natural park in Sri Lanka situated in the Matale and Polonnaruwa Districts. It was declared to protect and to make a refuge for the displaced wild animals during the Mahaweli Development Project in 1984 and is one of the four National Parks designated under the Project. Originally it was designated as a nature reserve in 1938, and then in the early 1970s the area was regraded as a strict nature reserve.
